Crispy Tofu Airfryer in 20 minutes
Make perfectly crispy tofu in just 20 minutes with this quick and easy air fryer recipe! Light, golden, and packed with flavor, it’s the ultimate plant-based protein for any meal.
Cook Time 20 minutes mins
Course Main Course, Side Dish
- 1 Block of firm tofu
- Panko See Notes below.
- Tapioca starch
- ¼ teaspoon white pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ⅓ cup Soy sauce 80ml
Start by pressing the tofu to remove excess moisture. Wrap the tofu in a clean kitchen towel, place it on a plate, and weigh it down with a heavy object like a skillet. Let it sit for about 10 minutes. This step ensures the tofu becomes crispy rather than soggy when cooked.
Cut the pressed tofu into cubes or rectangles, depending on your preference. In a large bowl, toss the tofu with soy sauce, garlic powder and white pepper.
Sprinkle the tapioca starch over the tofu and toss until evenly coated. Then coat with panki for an extra crisp.
Place the tofu cubes in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they don’t overlap. Spray oil and cook for 10 minutes at 400°F (200ºC).
Flip tofu carefully. Spray more oil and cook for another 7 minutes.
Remove the tofu from the air fryer and serve immediately.
I turned some leftover bread into homemade panko—a great way to use up stale bread! It’s super simple: use dried-out bread, remove the crusts for a lighter texture, and break it into crumbs by hand or with a few quick pulses in a food processor.
